The prospect of a is going to be talked up and up in coming weeks by government sources. That’s not because they want it to happen but because backers of PM’s deal think the threat is the only way Brexiteer Tories can be brought to heel and persuaded to back it

By making out that he's incompetent domestically it perpetuates the myth that little wifey does all the housework (dad busy with his super important job presumably). It's bad for everyone but I think the implication is still pretty chauvinistic

They've scented the blood now... ERG saying withdrawal deal will still fail to get Commons support. "If TM pushes ahead with her deal...we are set to have a general election which she has said she will not lead us into & no one thinks she can realistically win"

So 37% of Tory MPs think they need a new prime minister with a new Brexit deal. The idea that those 117, even a majority of the 117 can be won over with "reassurances" on the backstop is for the birds. There is no way through with the current parliament.

For months ERG types have grumbled that while they might have had enough letters to force a vote, they wouldn't win that vote... in trying and failing they've given May security for a whole year.

The PM should collect 52 letters of support and then tell the 48 to get over it because they lost.
