Dear Church, Watch this. And repent. Repent until every victim of our misogyny, our abuse, and our patriarchy is heard. Repent until it never happens again.

The reality is it wasn’t complicated, he broke the law and they sheltered him and continued to shelter him. Instead of protecting her, they allowed for the story to be twisted into their favour as though he and the church wasn’t responsible.

The Lord hears the cries of all who have been abused, silenced, threatened, and forgotten. His justice will come. We are all called to repent and show mercy but there must be real consequences for abuse like this inside the church.

In short- we must extend mercy and forgiveness and trust the Lord to judge. It’s not about vengeance. BUT we also must protect our flocks which does not allow those who take advantage of others to remain in positions where they can continue to do so.
