This dog had me crazy all day. They say you should never have children if you worry - I amend the warning to: you should never have a dog if you worry. I have been panicking, crying, freaking out! It’s been rough. Why do they eat everything?!!!!!

“Silence is the space in between words and around ideas” I wrote garbage this afternoon. Then I picked up this tiny book, and I think I know why I can’t write today: Because I shouldn’t. Because I need the silence first or the words mean nothing.

Writing up the outline for my next manuscript. I’ve poured so much into my current project, when people ask what’s next, it terrifies me. It’s maybe similar to having that second kid? You fear you won’t love her as much as the first, until you meet her, and your heart expands.

As a mom of three, people ask me this all the time. The answer is always: naptime. I also capture the flow of thoughts throughout the day - writes in Bird By Bird about keeping notecards and jotting down ideas as they come - I do this, but on my notepad on my phone.

Until you’ve lived with pain, please refrain from judging those who do. They need your love not your expertise.

Right?! My favorite when I was at my worst: “you’re not handling this well”. Yeah- more understanding would have been great.

The medical community is not, generally, the most helpful place. I found that as well.
