This spending and interest on our debt will soon consume all the taxes and revenues the federal government collects. That’s before one dollar goes to national defense or our other priorities. Congress must come to terms with this overspending.

It’s $21 trillion now and unfortunately our inclination is still to increase spending. That was the problem then and it is a problem now – not the tax cut. We need to prioritize and get the most out of the dollars we do spend. (3/3)

I’ve heard some critics say the same thing now about our new tax law. That reminds me of another quote from President Reagan. “We don’t have a trillion-dollar debt because we haven’t taxed enough; we have a trillion-dollar debt because we spend too much.” (2/3)
