I opened a Facebook link on Safari (I don’t have the app or an account) and in the myriad of banners and alerts and the page scrolling up and down I managed to change the page language to something I don’t understand. I felt like an old person who can’t use technology 😂

Last time I coded was in PHP 7. It has better type safety and that helps a lot. Lots of it was still annotation-style (aka type is a comment above the variable name) but it was already helpful. IntelliJ did a great job of finding type errors.

If you don't sing the su-per-per troup-per-per part in Super Trouper whenever it plays, then we can't be friends.

Reminds me of BigClive talking about fog machines that use XLR connectors to plug the control unit, which usually has mains voltage running through it. Now imagine what happens when a clueless sound engineer finds that XLR cable and plugs a microphone into it.

Reminds me that I bought a magnetic Nespresso capsule tray for this exact purpose, but whenever I'd let the fridge door close the tray would instantly slide all the way to the floor 🤦‍♂️

As an alternative you can setup the new device by transferring data right from the old one. It asks early during setup.

Mostly for redundancy. But also, reading from the NAS is slow. And only every few days to the SSD because I keep forgetting to plug it since I need to disconnect it to use the USB port from time to time.

NAS with 2 drives in RAID, plus extra external SSD (all using Apple's Time Machine). The backups to the NAS happen every hour over-the-air, and the backups to the external SSD happen every few days or so.
