Andrena ampla, the Water-dropwort Mining Bee, new to UK, see: . Not a new colonist. It was discovered by DNA sequencing Andrena proxima to investigate why 2 forms seemed to occur in the UK. Ampla occurs in the SW and Wales, foraging on Oenanthe crocata.

Unfortunately, they were unable to estimate the time spent by taxonomists identifying the insects (I reviewed the paper and asked for that!). If anybody is able to estimate taxonomist hours on top of the massive sorting effort, that would be really useful info.

About half a million bees. There is a lot of research using the bee collection. The curator would also curate some other groups of Hymenoptera. There is currently no curator of bees. 'Senior' refers to the pay grade.
