Hi, BA. What's caused your website to go down?

British Airways
Hi Lee, this is a technical fault, believed to be related to an IT system upgrade to some databases we carried out overnight. ^Lyn

No rollback option in place? I bet you're glad you got rid of your in-house IT people. BA is a joke.

I was about to ask, an upgrade to the production server with no roll-back plan in place?

You didn't test it first or have a rollback plan?

Amazing really. I wouldn't let this happen to my environment, and I don't work for an airline!

Just curious, wasn't there an outage (maybe only the BA app) last month due to IT issues too?

Hey maybe it's management at fault, not the technology?

you took your entire customer facing environment down with a DB upgrade. How very 2002 of you.

Huh? Even a basic vm snapshot, backup if production fails, test environment and correct roll out checks.. no brainer, this is basic stuff.

Hi BA, what's up with the website today? It appears a number of things aren't working again.

Seriously did you not learn anything from the RBS outage of 2012. UK IT professionals do a good job, value them.
