Funny how autistic people who are dedicated to defending functioning labels are always the ones identifying themselves as "mildly autistic" or "high functioning" or whatevers. Very important to separate yourself from the rabble.

Something a few people have raised with me, and I think it’s an issue that needs examined/clarified, and that is “what happens to those of us who have Asperger’s Syndrome on our diagnosis papers, once the ICD removes it?”

We do not need a new word for Aspergers. There already is one. Autism. If you hate defining your autism as autism, maybe think about why that is? We don’t need words to divide us :)

I have read some concerning depictions of autistic motherhood lately. I don’t recognise any autistic mothers I know in the depictions. It’s a horrible feeling being misrepresented as the refrigerator mother

Thank you, for explaining this so well. I go into schools and events where the children are in crisis through awful environment/actions by others, to be told, "It's their autism". It's not. A meltdown or shutdown is a distress/crisis behaviour.

Well put. Also, some of my non-autistic friends are actively learning about autism and making space for me, so I also want to thank you for doing that despite non-autistic privilege.

Ensuring that Autistic Women have access to a diagnosis and all the support that it brings is “watering down” the diagnosis. What a load of nonsense.
