We can learn a lot from aviation. I have taken their course and it is remarkably applicable. But at some point we will need to adapt it to our needs. Those who talk about walk in our shoes need to walk in a pilot’s shoes too.

Had a major power cut in our hospital today. Really impressed how it was handled . No harm came to any patient or staff and we were up and running quickly With luck I'll still be able to finish my operating list without needing the candles now...

I'm going to ask Lizzy if we can use her photo in the new Gray's Surgical Anatomy for how good aesthetic surgery can be these days....

I think this is a real problem and something that needs tackling. Especially suicide while under GMC investigation or after a patient death where the doctor thinks they are to blame..

This is great and sums up HF brilliantly. When things get difficult we need to concentrate and not be distracted. Listen to the transcript sometime. As soon as he knew they would be in the Hudson Sully turned off the radios so he could concentrate on the job...!!

Your course looks amazing Matteo. If you need any input from a surgeon has published extensively on HF and teaches it widely then please don't hesitate

All sorts! I love classical music, particularly Mozart and Chopin, but also modern music too. So we have a playlist and will listen to anything from Abba to Toto!

Music in theatre is interesting. What one team member might like, others might detest. Volume is crucial and can be adjusted depending on concentration. I always recommend having a varied playlist, ideally that all the team contribute to, so all listen to something they like!
