Brave stats: Top April DAU 1.85M (April 30th), April MAU 6.178M, Top current DAU 1.95M (May 7th). Nb: we are putting DAU first and focusing on growing with high retention.

Great job, team! Curious to know what type of retention loops are igniting the DAU growth per channel!

Good work! do you have breakout by platform by any chance? Or at least mobile compared to desktop?

You know why Github blocked me from using Brave? It said they no longer supported the browser. I was like is MS still mad about the 90s?

Let me get the powerbook out. I'll check. Was there one specific version?

Thank you for the update. MAU growth seems to have slowed a lot since the last update. Any insight into why?

when I use brave with opera, firefox, chrome ; it crashes my win10; what is the reason? Brave doesn't like competition in one pc or what ? :)

The OS crashes? OS bug. Or do you mean runs low on virtual memory, becomes unusable? I still would fault the OS (in old days we’d give “out of memory” and program could die cleanly; modern VM systems overcommit & OOMkill). Buy more memory?

Because we are working on DAU and retention. MAU without retention is at limit a bad metric, once-ever use due to ads or distributors reaching someone who did not stick.

How did Brendan Eich know the Daily Active Users (DAU) metric about the Brave browser if the Brave browser isn't tracking it's users and their usage of that browser? 🤔

Read the code and terms of use. All secure browsers including Brave ping for updates. We add 3 bits to this otherwise stateless ping, for whether user came back in a day, a week, a month. This can not identify any user.

Simple question - if the Brave browser isn't tracking it's users and their usage of that browser, then how are you able to measure DAU?

Counting users can be done without tracking. Please read and et seq. All secure browsers ping for updates. Brave's edge cache partner drops IP and we get 3 bits per returning user on top to flag same day/week/month of last use.

We thought long and worked hard on privacy — we didn’t just fork upstream and lamely add our own tracking, or (worse) others’ tracking (just “beta bugs”, nbd :-).
