It’s incredibly rare (and brave!) for reporters to publicly call out their own newsrooms like this. I wish more would do so, especially when it comes to climate change.

The most important thing we lose when we lose local newspapers is their political coverage. So people get more and more news from cable news, which is national. That then trickles down to local political ignorance and voting apathy. It’s terrible.
