I would like to write a book in which the central conflict is the protagonist’s average financial struggle under late capitalism but I think my greatest challenge as an author will be convincing the reader that there is any hope for a resolution.

“‘I don’t know’ doesn’t mean ‘I don’t want to know’ but rather ‘I want to know more’. It is an allowance of space meant to be filled. It makes room for the other and for other people.”

I’m supposed to do a reading of my work tonight, but I just finished ’s THE GREAT BELIEVERS and I’m a mess. Do you think anyone would mind if I showed up and did like Andy Kaufman with The Great Gatsby?

I wrote an essay on objects in fiction! Incomplete list of what's involved: Yiyun Li's "Sweeping Past," blood moons, fingernails, art project where I talked to a dead person from under a sheet, luminous halos, & how objects can help us write what exists beyond limits of language.
