In memory of Australian soldiers past and present, 300 students, teachers and parents planted more than 1000 Flanders Poppies at Mount Lofty Botanic Garden this week. The cultivar is called Ladybird and is a beautiful symbol of remembrance on this centenary Armistice Day.

This delicately beautiful, but endangered Lady Tanerkville’s Swamp Orchid, Phaius tankervilleae, is now in bloom in the Bicentennial Conservatory at Adelaide Botanic Garden. It's the first time it’s bloomed in the five years we've had it 😀

Just 19 plants are left of this critically endangered Copper Beard Orchid, Calochilus cupreus, which is endemic to the Aldinga area of SA. The SA Seed Centre team and volunteers are working hard to prevent this and other native orchids from extinction.

Over 4,000 visitors came to see and smell the Corpse Flower yesterday. While the aroma has diminished today, there's still time to visit - the Bicentennial Conservatory will be open until 6pm tonight (last entry 5:30pm).

Yucca Whipplei has flowered and it is looking spectacular! The plant is nearly 2 metres tall and may die back after flowering. So make sure you head to the Cycad Collection at Adelaide Botanic Garden.

Titan Arum update: this magnificent plant is still growing every day and currently stands at a whopping 1.72 metres tall. The inflorescence remains closed for now, but we're monitoring it very closely and as soon as we see it start to bloom, we'll let you know.
