The aerosol spray bottle which had been introduced in 1958 was discontinued, and replaced by a new Soltan foam.

The Soltan range was relaunched in 1962 with new formulations, new lines and new packaging designs. This introduced oils, lotions and creams which were ‘soothing, moisturising and non- drying, yet non-greasy and will not stain clothes’.

When John Boot resigned from the position of chancellor of the University of Nottingham in 1954 due to ill health, he presented the University with £100,000 to endow a chair of pharmaceutical chemistry and chair of chemical engineering, equivalent to around £2.4 million today.

On 3rd May 1924 a War Memorial was unveiled at Boots Athletic Ground to remember the 330 employees who died during the First World War. 125 of the men were from offices and works, and 205 were from Boots stores.
