Winning WW II was mostly family-unfriendly. Mainly male, too, at least in the combat roles.

Reminder: when someone asks you a question that's none of their business, and refusing to answer would give them what they want, you're morally entitled to lie.

I have a podcast where I talk to vets & spouses about how the GI Bill has helped them. It covers code schools now, not just colleges. A new program, VET-TEC, does even more of what your bill proposes.

There are websites devoted to misheard lyrics (I found one looking up my own mishearing of "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk, which was "Mexican lucky").

While the indexes are indeed valuable, there are other types of data that train the models ("algorithms" in pop-speak), including 1. What people have clicked on in the past, or expressed interest in. 2. What the human raters (employed by 3rd party companies) have done.

I should add that "supporting OpenIndexProto" might be a much bigger deal for them. And their lawyers would inflate that into "impossible." So the winning move would be to say "ok, we'll just use your protocols, for now. On Google Cloud." Then they have no defense.

Even inside of Google, clients access data asynchronously, not via direct function calls, and access is rigorously checked. So it's already "arms-length". It would not be a radical change if the client was a separate company.

Being always underestimated by your enemies is a priceless gift. He saw the Democrats about to unite against The Squad. Even Rahm Emanuel was trashing AOC's chief of staff. The Black Caucus was jumping in. Now they can't possibly separate themselves from AOC and Omar.

Satire: it's how great minds communicate. In mine, everyone gets a share of the money, every year. "Amy Singhal" : 😃 I think you meant "Amit"

You had a pow-wow? Who told you to have a pow-wow? I didn't tell you to have a pow-wow!

I worked at Google for 11 1/2 years. I know that, on the inside, they already do keep the data at arm's length from the rest of the code. Google might prefer a standard, but Google Cloud could almost be used already as an open platform.

Former engineer on Google Maps. Google actively does NOT want to measure the imputed value of Maps. If they did, patent plaintiffs would demand it in discovery.

Memorably parodied by the late Tom Wolfe in The Bonfire of the Vanities.

I wrote this as satire, but it's really a base for discussion. ALL the tech giants' data should be available to everyone, on FRAND terms. And everyone whose data they're monetizing should share in the proceeds.

The opposite of "fragmentation" is "centralization"? Or "bureaucratization"? No thanks. Another word for fragmentation is "federalism."

Definitely not "everything", but: he perceived that MAYBE the Dems were about to unite against The Squad. This would be bad. Now they can't. So is that genius? idk, but it's tactics.

Prior to his tweet, it looked like the House Democrats were going to unite against The Squad. Pelosi trashed them. The Black Caucus piled on. Trump didn't want that to happen. So he played them, once again. Now The Squad is going to be the face of the Democratic Party, forever.

Almond butter is better than peanut butter, and just as available. Not that there's anything wrong with peanut butter! How else would I get my dog to take his pills?
