While I’m overseas my attention is still at home, as the Archiocese continues to discern what our future missionary structures might look like. Grateful for our people as I hear of your shared reflections on the shape of the path ahead. Our Lady of the Way, pray for us.

The recently refurbished St Andrew’s Cathedral Glasgow. The decorative elements are quite lovely (and the pews are vastly more comfortable than the Pugin ones I sat in last week!)

And survived beautifully! Now at the train station. Let Lewis know I couldn’t get into the castle today, so I’ll need an invite back for some conference gig!

Thanks. Helpful to know. (Though, those kings and queens of early England may simply have been denied the ‘good looks’ genes!)

One of the mysteries of medieval stained glass, which is otherwise glorious and marvellous, is the grotesque faces that are often depicted. This is not deliberate, yet somehow these extraordinary artisans couldn’t get facial features right. A couple of examples from Yorkminster.
