This Lesser Adjutant image was taken at the same dump location in #Guwahati, #India as its cousin the Greater Adjutant which was posted a few days ago. This #bird though has a darker iris, white skullcap and lacks the neck pouch of its larger cousin [birdinginchina.com]. pic.twitter.com/axxNGpUTuD

My bird fieldguide describes both these Adjutant species as “grotesque”. So, yes, I agree with you, my fieldguide does too, and no doubt others will agree with you too. Though, after looking at them for some time, I did start to appreciate their appearance a bit more!
