This is a travesty of proceedings. This is a major debate about the future of our country. This is a massive bill, committing us to making huge payments to the EU, which we voted not to make anymore. It warrants a debate on the Floor of the House and a full vote of this House.

“With insulting arrogance, Donald Tusk said of this unjustified extension of time, which the European council imposed on the Prime Minister - ‘do not waste this time.’ We certainly will not”

This monstrous white elephant devastates my constituency. The cost is likely to be £100 billion minimum when the rest of the country needs real investment in local railways.

Legal opinion has been taken and the Executive Committee of the 1922 are free to change the rules so we can have another confidence vote now. If the change isn't made Theresa May will think she can cling on.

I have secured a debate on the extension of Article 50 Statutory Instrument which we regard as being beyond the legal authority of the Government.

On the procedure for the removal of the Prime Minister in the executive of the 1922 Committee, 9 to 7 (with 2 abstentions) was just not enough. But make no mistake, legally it is accepted the rules can be changed - even if not yet

“For the Prime Minister to agree such an extension is to knowingly use her power in a way that she herself believes would risk frustrating Parliament’s intention that the UK must leave the EU. This is legally beyond the pale”
