The average worker who would benefit from a $15 an hour minimum wage is more than 35 years old. The majority of low-wage workers are women – over 20 million of whom would get a raise by increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.

The federal minimum wage has not been raised since 2009. Increasing the minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 an hour would directly benefit 41 million workers, including over half of African-American workers and close to 60 percent of Latino workers.

Enough is enough. It’s time to substantially reduce student debt and make public colleges, universities, and vocational schools tuition free in the United States.

If every major country on earth can guarantee health care to all and achieve better health outcomes, while spending substantially less per capita than we do, it is absurd for anyone to suggest that the United States of America cannot do the same.

This is what we mean when we talk about a rigged economy. If Sears has $25 million to give bonuses to executives after closing over 100 stores, why is the company telling thousands of laid off employees they don't have the money to pay their severance?

No one can deny that today’s minimum wage of $7.25 an hour is nothing more than a starvation wage. After 10 years of inaction, it’s time to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Doing so would directly benefit over 41 million workers across the nation.
