It has a proper timeless feel to it, perhaps because it was so retro. Contemporary retro? Does that even work?! It must still sound fresh as bands are still ripping it off 20 years later.

The (nearly) 20 years thing blows my little mind. I remember buying Hard To Explain on CD single from Woollies on Stockton high street

Manners cost nothing. However, maybe they’re inexperienced, young and been brought up on media fuelled music industry folklore and tales of kerrrazy backstage antics. Don’t write them off just yet, hopefully your advice will resonate, no one needs another Motley Crue.

It’s fine to write whatever you want to write is the point really. I tried to write more whimsically but quite frankly was crap at it. As long as a song is honest it’s not a problem.

Ah thanks! I’d forgotten I’d put it up tbh as Spotify might as well be a translating hieroglyphics module to me!

“I’m not bothered that potential fans might be put off by the subjects I choose to write about or the stance I take on them, I’m monumentally bored of vacuous songs smothered in pointless pith that fizzle out after the middle eight as there’s no where left to go.” Be our friend.

“The country is at war with itself, the internet is crushing us under its own vanity, we’re being led over the edge by poundshop fascists, our oceans are poisoned and our animals are dying...” PARKLIFE. Great interview with captain funtimes in this month!

Two series of it on Netflix. I love them me. There was a time when the only thing that would stop Hattie crying was their song “Do The Propellor”. You should book them for Twisterella.

It’s up there with the cinematic work of Chris Rea, beware. And if you’ve never seen Chris Rea on film, boy you’re in for a treat.
