What systems have you used for successful lightweight remote collaborations?
Lightweight = not full on remote team but just "hey let's explore this together"
'Just use email with precise language, dummy' is an acceptable answer.

2 person slack workspaces work pretty well. More casual than email, but more powerful than messaging.

IRC, documents shared through something with version control (git, Google Drive), ticketing systems. Clear writing is a core skill.

Email isn't a great path, in my experience. Too much chaff for most people.
Chat clients: Google or Slack. Good path for async communication, okay path for synchronous.
Audio chat: Google, Skype, or Zoom. Good path for synchronous communication.
Shared docs: Google or a wiki.
