Commissioner Bateman says there's "traction" to change the funding mechanism for the DABC. They make A LOT of cash for the state of Utah. But the sets their budget.

Commissioner Bateman says they really can't compare sales trends until December or so. "We now no longer know how much heavy beer is being sold in the state," he says.

There will need to be more time to see the true impact of beer law change: Local store restrictions for are an impact, as is outsized demand nationwide for alcohol (warehouse doesn't have all the things customers want).

Petilos says there's a couple of factors in decline in sales. Licensee sales are only about 60% of what they were last year (thanks, 'Rona!). This time last year, DABC was growing at a 7% rate. Heavier beer moving to grocery/convenience stores also an impact.

Financial update. DABC is reporting a 26% DECREASE in bottle sales over last year. Also, a $6.2 million DECREASE in sales (about 5%) over last year. It's due to and change in beer law.

Commissioner Parrish asks for an update on "the Moab situation?" There's legal questions surrounding the Moab 4x4 Expo, Petilos says, so they will have a special meeting tomorrow. That has been publicly noticed.

Vernal liquor store is CLOSED because of (presumably). "It's unfortunate, but I think for the safety of store employees as well as the public, that closure has to take place," Petilos announces.

DABC Executive Director Sal Petilos says outdoor dining regulations due to were set to end Oct. 31. DABC will instead EXTEND those through Jan. 1 (to allow MORE patio/outdoor dining).

Foothill liquor store will move temporarily for a remodel. It'll be across from the Dan's grocery store. Saratoga Springs liquor store will be opening soon. Construction nearing its end.

DABC has moved on to operations updates. This month, state-run liquor stores will start extending hours until 10p at some stores. It's anticipation of holiday demand. It will depend on staffing (which is hard to find).

The DABC is reconsidering the application of Black Rock Resort in Heber. They are selling some units and retaining others as hotel-type units. The DABC prodded them to get a hotel license instead of another type, so it's approved without any incident.

Sorry, it's a distinction between received and processed. So basically what happens is "processed" means your ballot is scanned. Results will not be tabulated until Election Night once polls closed, per law.
