Okay tweeps, I am off for a quick trip to Spokane, WA this weekend. What are the breweries/brewpubs I need to know about. Similarly, recs for places with good food and good beer.

“You know what one of my sick pleasures is? Seeing how fast I can talk someone out of wanting to be a brewer. I’ve been doing it since the 90s.”

Hard to know. Lots of valuable property in the UK might mean changes for pubs. But maybe also a brand to build in China?? It is really hard to see it as good news for fans of heritage breweries in the UK, but you never know.

Blue Dot was the very first IPA I had that made me realize how much more hops could be in a beer than just a bit of flavor and a lot of bitter. An amazing revelation and still a favorite.

It's a brand, new pod! Today we have the incredible story of Ale Apothecary, told by its visionary, Paul Arney. A great story and one of the most unusual in beer.

A brand new pod—and this is a great one. ’s Larry Sidor sat down with us in Bend and told us not just about his current brewery, but his nearly 50 years as a working brewer. Remarkable story. Give it a listen.

Excellent, which was a bit surprising. If I was planning the pairing I might have chosen a traditional Bitter- mild and malty. Would have worried about hops dominating the scallops. But they complimented very well.

I grilled scallops. I was inspired, has anyone ever done this before? Did I just invent grilled scallops? I think so.
