All have been recommended of late, and are on my list. I'm always pressed for time, so the breweries I end up checking out while in H-town depend proximity to other places I need to be while there.

Also, I wanted to be able to say I'd had beer from each place. (Oh, & Brash was my "metal" brewery). That said, I've been slowly checking out new spots on family visits. Last trip I hit Sigma, Walking Stick, Brash, SA new place. Was going to Eureka, but closed for an event.

A place with a history element, a place with great atmosphere. Must-visits (some of which would certainly be on a purposeful best of list). Of course, had to hit the major cities, but wanted some suburban options. Basically, didn't want it to read like every other list.

Plus, it was published by the travel editor, so I had a kind of mental checklist I went by. I wanted variety and different types of places on the list. An wild & sour brewery (easy), an IPA place, a stout place, a beer & bbq place (because TX)...

Wasn't intended to be a best of list. It was presented more as a sampling of great breweries around the state. That's why the text kind of goes down the road of so many breweries, it's hard to say who's best.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but perhaps we should be focusing more attention on attracting the beer drinker that wants to just sit down at the bar to buy beer as opposed to standing in line.

Cowtown has been open just over a year. Also, including new names, or names you might not see everyday, keeps it from being a rehash of every other list.

Not a best of list...and best is subjective (not sure why we have to say this every time a list comes out). This is just a sampling of breweries across TX that I like to visit for one reason or another.
