The comics arrived around the airbases, and were then given away or sold on. Then, local "fly by night" publishers such as Cartoon Art started producing black-and-white reprints, probably bootlegs. Not much is known about these.

Reminds me of the suicide of the former Haitian official Klaus Eberwein in Miami in 2017. He was implicated in a corruption scandal, but it didn't take long for a Clinton conspiracy to get grafted onto his demise. Google News algorithms amplified it
