Hosts China moved a step closer to regaining the Sudirman Cup when they defeated Denmark 3-1 tonight to set-up a semifinal showdown against Thailand. Earlier, Thailand knocked out defending champs Korea 3-1 in another quarterfinal match.

Thailand's Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul was elected as the BWF Deputy President at the world governing body's AGM here today. Khunying received 176 votes while China's Zhang Jun obtained 88 votes. Khunying is also the President of the Badminton Association of Thailand.
