Far from lights on this , 1.5hr after sunset over NW, was pure spectacle to the camera. The tail was visible to naked eye but much fainter than this single exposure photograph of 15 seconds through 135mm lens, plus a closer view through 600mm telephoto.

Started this project with Prague Metropolitan Orchestra & composer Barbad Bayat in Jan but the pandemic delayed the first piece, CELESTIAL, to now. A rare conjunction of Venus, Jupiter, & Lagoon Nebula in the Galaxy, above Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. Watch on

Depends on your latitude. From roughly 35-45N try 1.5 h before sunrise or after sunset (over NW) from tomorrow.

A short timelapse video of as it was rising in morning twilight I biked to this location to capture the new Comet NEOWISE rising over the ocean in twilight. The next nights it emerges in evening sky (at dusk on northwest horizon) if you are not a morning person!

Yesterday morning 4am, 10mi north of Boston. I biked to the spot to capture the new Comet NEOWISE rising over the ocean in twilight. I was surprised to see a far layer of Noctilucent Clouds (NLC) on the horizon, much more prominent in higher latitudes.

Color of twilight in this tropical latitude was still visible to the camera as stars & Milky Way began to reveal above Lake Atitlan, a sacred home to Maya people in Guatemala. Venus & Jupiter are seen next to the Lagoon Nebula, 4100 light years away.

A Paradise on Earth. Milky Way rises above a caldera, filled with clouds in Canary Islands, the place of my annual photo workshop which I missed visiting this year with the pandemic. Fine Art orders of this is 20% off with code "today20" valid 48 hours.

This morning about 4am. A rare occultation of Venus behind the moon. See the pair over the ocean in the previous tweet.

This morning about 4am. The seagulls were waking up. The ocean breeze was cooling down the air. The celestial pairing of Moon & Venus was not a regular one, but a rare occultation. Venus was hiding behind the moon moments before this image. See the video in the next tweet.

Unlike the other image that's been floating around today, this is a *real* image of the mural taken from space today by one of the SkySat satellites. Managed to capture a small break in the clouds!

Moments ago SpaceX was launched to begin a new era of human space exploration. On Earth people still struggle for the very base of a culturally advanced civilization: equal rights. It seems culture & technology, our level of wisdom & science, are not on the same train.

Telephoto closeup of the thin New Moon last evening. See Venus and Mercury (top) in the wider angle view.
