Quite a lot Red Admirals around today in the Mendips, especially on ivy and buddleia. Also Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown, Brown Argus, Small Heath, Large & Small White, Brimstone and still a few Painted Ladies.

At last they have got round to the W's. This fantastic book arrived today. A deep bow to you Peter Eeles for such an amazing achievement, opens up a whole new realm of fascination. If you are interested in butterflies this is a must have.

Found a piece of rubbish on your walk? Pick up and properly dispose of rubbish and recyclables, even if they aren't yours. It only takes a second but can make a big difference. A selfless environmentally friendly act.

We had this Speckled Wood visit our Taunton office garden yesterday! They're found in woodland rides, glades, gardens & parks. Its numbers were in decline in late 19th & early 20th centuries but are now bouncing back!
