I’ve just spoken to Environment Sec Michael Gove who has been in close contact about the situation in Wainfleet. He was very clear: the will have access to every resource they need regardless of cost & the first priority will always be protecting lives & homes.

It looks like the unfortunate citizens of are still suffering from the heavy rain so the decision has been taken to redeploy our personnel. A Chinook has picked them up & they will be on scene imminently.

Lincolnshire Police have now confimed that a total of 580 properties in the Wainfleet area have been evacuated as a result of the threat of flooding in the town.

We will have 2 wagons in Wainfleet today to take away flood damaged items/goods. Once the waters have fully receded and people are able to access their properties we will put further arrangements in place. Pls talk to insurers before disposing of items.

UPDATE ON WAINFLEET – NEW RISK - A repair was completed to the bank on the south side of the River Steeping yesterday. This remains weak point and there is now an additional risk further along the same bank.
