Cyclosporiasis is an intestinal illness caused by a microscopic parasite spread by people consuming food or water that has been contaminated w/ feces. A single source has not been identified, but previous outbreaks have been linked to a variety of fresh fruits + vegetables. (2/3)

We are investigating an outbreak of Cyclosporiasis in Austin-Travis County. As of August 5th, 82 cases have been reported to our epidemiology team, with the earliest symptom onset reported on June 1st. 👉 Learn more: (1/3)

Harmful toxins have now been detected in blue-green algae at Auditorium Shores as well as Festival Beach + Red Bud Isle. Do not allow dogs to swim in Lady Bird Lake or drink the water. Avoid stagnant areas of the lake + don’t handle algae. Info + updates:

This capacity continues to limit the availability of surgeries to manage serious medical conditions. Before the health authority considers additional reopenings/increased gatherings, we need to have more ICU capacity, continued reductions in new cases + hospital admissions. (3/3)
