I’m all about better pay for restaurant employees, and I’m not a huge fan of the tipping system in the U.S. This said, the favorite bartenders I talk with (e.g. ) are against Initiative #77. I’m listening to them and will vote “no.”

Just had a door to door canvasser come to my house and tell me to vote for yes for initiative 77 (which pretty much the entire D.C. food/bar industry and council are against.) I pointed to my t shirt and said no thank you.

I can’t believe it’s been a year since the greatest line in history was written about “Then the brewer took his hot plate and went on living his life.”

DC Water May 15
Last night the Clean Rivers Tunnel System captured ~120M gallons of combined sewage, keeping it out of the Anacostia River. We are treating that flow now and preparing for the next storm. This video - from testing in Feb - shows how much water we're talking about.
