(2/2) The Department now has three Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technicians on staff. Look for further information regarding car seat check-up events & opportunities to schedule an appointment for a car seat inspection by one of our certified technicians.

(1/2) This week, two of our department members attended a 24-hour car seat technician course at the Westborough Fire Department. The course was sponsored by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and Safe Kids Worldwide.

The Worcester Fire Department suffered a Line of Duty Death early this morning. Ladder 5 Fire Lieutenant Jason Menard died while searching for reported trapped children in a house fire early this morning on Stockholm Street. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers

**** TRAFFIC UPDATE**** 5:15 PM 10/17/2019 POND ST. (RT 126) IS OPEN TO ONE LANE WAVERY (RT 135) IS OPEN TO ONE LANE PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY IN THESE AREAS AS CREWS ARE STILL WORKING. EXPECT DELAYS DUE TO ONE LANE TRAFFIC.

Both Routes 135 & 126 remain closed to all traffic due to storm damage. Eversource is working as fast as they can to conduct repairs. Avoiding the affected areas (or all of Ashland) is highly recommended this evening. Please use caution and follow the detour signs.

Pond Street Update: Pond Street (Rt 126) remains closed in either direction. Power has been shut off in the area. Crews remaining on scene until the trailer is removed. Expect a prolonged road closure.
