Amazingly, even though one gentleman 10 days ago referred to this oil as the best painting he’d ever seen, this spectacular study by still remains unsold in the gallery - should we open the book as to when it will find a new home? .

Thank you Tim, It was indeed February this year when I did this superb winter hike on Helvellyn. November, around the fifth, is I think one of the optimum times to photograph striding edge.

Thanks Tim, this image was based on a stitched panorama taken before the sun disappeared. Perfect winter day on Blencathra.

Simon’s exhibition continues this week until 22 July, a slight departure from his traditional winter landscapes, I believe the exhibition exhibits a better cross-section of his work because of this painting - herdwick portraits due later this week.

The second painting, High Rigg, was the result of a hike in the dark for a chilly October Dawn looking towards Blencathra.

All I can say is that I never set out to own a gallery,,it just sort of happened & yet I never show my own work as I prefer others’! I have precisely 0 photographs hanging at home, which is a volte face, 10 years ago you would’ve seen only photographs hanging on my walls!

I'm the same, I can't afford to keep my pictures sadly, but am happy other people can enjoy them!

Herdwick III. Small oil for . I love the pale blue shadows on a Herdwick's face, and the red smit on the wool with it's oily matted texture was a challenge
