Hello Apple, I upgraded to IOS 12 and the Bluetooth symbol on the bar has stopped appearing, what is happening???

Thanks for contacting us. The Bluetooth icon no longer appears in iOS 12. You can check to see if Bluetooth is enabled in Settings > Bluetooth on your device.

How does not knowing if my phone is trying to make or receive Bluetooth connections help my privacy? You know the MAC address it broadcasts is unique, right? it's easy to pick these up and track who's nearby. Nice one, Apple.
