Here’s a short 'virtue signalling' piece I wrote for SBS life about that awful cartoon.. It's sad to see no critical reflection about this image in the Australian cartooning community, which shows how acceptable is these days.

Tonight, during the bed routine, the toddler told me that he went to under-land today but came back for mummy. Fair enough.

Without truth, without verification, we slide into Trumpism & turn the public square into snarling enclaves without synthesis. My weekend column

Unbelievable... another Australian cartoon that draws from racist/orientalist visual traditions and stereotypes that are a couple of centuries old. This cartoon conjures the Lustful Turk/Muslim trope from early 19th century.

When I was in Japan, someone at Shibuya crossing said I reminded them of Loki and I still think about that whenever I need cheering up.

Wouldn’t be surprised. Shuts out the noise for me, all the endless possibilities. Compels me to slow down, speak it out, commit to clarity on the page. The only things I’ve written of worth recently were pen on paper the whole way through.

Happy birthday to this guy ; true comrade, former wolfman, not-a-man-of-God. 40 years in the desert now, still fighting for the promised land and partying along the way.
