Shout out to and (but really LIT) and other organizers who sounded the alarm day 1 about what this would be. If I could find a glimer of hope today, it would be that I'm in this fight with some badass organizers.

If there are so many limitations to democracy, and people are risking their lives to vote, and it disproportionately impacts participation from people of color, low income, students, elderly, etc...then it is hardly a true democracy. Way to go Wisconsin

So many feels this morning that I'm still processing. All I know, the argument that "democracy must go on" just doesn't make sense.

Our typical 180 locations have been reduced to just 5. In-person voting centers will be available at the following locations:

If you requested your ballot and still haven't recieved it, unfortunately your only option is to vote in person. That's a personal decision, one I won't hold against you, if you choose to stay home. If you choose to go, please be careful & follow CDC guidelines.

I will do my best to answer questions about today because yesterday things changed about 3 times. If you have your ballot, it needs to be postmarked TODAY despite previous rulings.

It is reckless, immoral, unethical voter suppression. Black & Brown communities are hardest hit by the virus but it doesn't matter as long as we "win". That's been the most frustrating and disturbing point of it all.

Welp today is election day. Orgs pleaded, begged, & litigated to try and move this thing despite the response of elected leaders. It has been draining, exhausting, & defeating. There are people on both sides of the aisle who think moving forward with today's in person election ok

Here are the new rules. If you have an absentee ballot in Wisconsin, you have to either put it in the mail so that it's postmarked tomorrow, Tuesday 4/7, or drop it off in person by 8pm at your clerk's office. It must arrive by Monday, 4/13.

This is madness. It is shameful. Political concerns outweighing the safety of the people of Wisconsin. Ask Vos and Fitzgerald exactly why they are so committed to sending people out to vote tomorrow-during a week when infections are expected to peak. What is the harm in waiting?

Don’t get it twisted: The real leaders here are Black & Brown orgs on the ground whose lives were threatened and had to beg to be represented.

“These black and brown voices have been telling our leaders to figure out how to do this (hold the election) in a just and equitable way for weeks, and to just act now this weekend is irresponsible,” - Maya Neal, Political Organizer

This is the GOTV text I got from It matters that Black organizers are texting Black people. Their compassion is a combo of good training + good people. Yes there’s an election AND our communities need to be held. Thank you for your leadership 🙏🏾

Again, I don't want to hear shit about "Milwaukee" (aka Black and Brown people) not doing our part, or being apathetic, or anything about our turnout when we've continuously put our bodies on the line for candidates that don't deserve it.

Hold on to that. If you lost that, and you ONLY care about an electoral outcome, and not what people are dealing with right now, then maybe it's time for you to exit politics.
