Tragic day with Lyra’s murder that ended beautifully: wife singing in Irish and Latin in an Irish language choir in a Methodist church in Loyalist East Belfast presided over by an Anglican minister. Signs of hope on a despairing day

Message to the politicians, bloggers and commentators - rather than feed people division, hatred and fear, make your vision of a united Ireland/United Kingdom, a positive place which everyone can sign up to. That’s the way to win the constitutional argument.

I’m in shock. Lyra was the essence of freedom in society. Unfraid to think the unthinkable. Brave, courageous. Unencumbered by class or tribal background. Of exactly the calibre Northern Ireland needs to get beyond the bloody perhatory her killers insist on keeping us trapped in.

All of us at Northern Slant were shocked and saddened by the news Lyra McKee had been murdered. She was, without doubt, one of NI's best storytellers. To have someone so young, so brilliant, so good, in every sense, stolen like this is simply heartbreaking

Sick to my stomach at death of Lyra McKee in Derry. She was an inspiring thinker and journalist. Last night she was killed by a thug terrorizing people in Derry. Anyone with information should contact . In Memory Of Lyra McKee / via

Aghast to learn this. Lyra helped me with research on my novel. A woman of commitment. Tragic.

'In Cork's Crawford Art Gallery, Wilson surprised me again by introducing me to Clarke's decidedly secular watercolours. They were astonishing...' Always time for some love! We currently have his three earliest stained-glass panels on display
