We came up with the SAT during World War II to determine who to keep from the frontlines. Now every year is wartime. We should deemphasize standardized tests and evaluate kids more holistically.

Sorry, no. The SAT was implemented to level the playing field for kids who went to public schools, vs kids who went to Exeter - you. ‘Holistic’ just means ‘ignore test scores’ and let admissions pick who they want - based on their own biases preference. VERY BAD IDEA

Standardized testing only level the playing field for people who can afford to study properly for it. High school kids of high aptitude would have to pick up part time jobs to help pay bills while Exeter kids sign up for SAT prep.

Absolutely. As technology grows more capable of doing tasks of all kinds, humans need to learn to be more human. Our focus needs to be on creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. We need to learn how to think, not be taught what to think.

Philosophy NEEDS to be taught as a class to pass elementary school. Kids shouldn't be afraid of thoughts.

This... this...this is fkn HUGE! We do NOT accurately capture our populations intelligence & thus we fail ourselves by stupid standards that ultimately pushes students to becoming disenfranchised with their education..

Never met someone with a high SAT score who was stupid. I agree it shouldnt be the determining factor but it should be a factor

My oldest son is a senior in hs. He took the SAT over the summer and did really well, he's already been accepted into a fantastic college. My 12 year old is extremely intelligent too. However, he is horrible at test taking. He doesn't do well on ILearn but is on the honor roll.🤷🏽

unfair thing is theres some evidence that people who care the most about doing well do poorly on those, conversely i dont care at all so ive done very well on those tests, even though nearly flunked out of school and had D- avg grade. 's "Choke" is a good look at this
