I know a significant fraction of US children are more or less forced to recite the pledge in school. I already find that creepy as hell. But forcing that on kids that are held captive, often can't speak English, and quite possibly aren't ever going to live in the US? WTF.

Frankly I think might be as much as a tradition as bowing in some other places to punctuate the beginning of class with a bunch of squirming children, and phases out pretty soon.
