I know a significant fraction of US children are more or less forced to recite the pledge in school. I already find that creepy as hell. But forcing that on kids that are held captive, often can't speak English, and quite possibly aren't ever going to live in the US? WTF.

I'm a German (albeit living in the US now), which probably is at least part of the reason I find this type of practice so deeply scary.
