The real problem for me is shows suggesting mother-daughter relationships are inherently fraught, perfectly summed up in ’s line “All my mother gave me was an eating disorder and a subway token.” You and me both, kid.

First the good stuff: Sharp Objects, Tully and Russian Doll were all on my list. I found it easier to believe in a magical night nurse than Charlize Theron biking through Bushwick with leaky nipples.

Since the weeks and months postpartum are a great time to catch up on TV shows, allow me to guide you though the landmines of mother-related content.

The myth of the self-made man (or woman) is very much a part of the American psyche, particularly in NYC. Ok fine. It’s the warped sense of normalcy created by peers who own their million $ homes that gets me. Even with transparency, the bar is still high.

Women’s mental health and public health are intertwined. Why is that such a revelation?

“The Artist’s Way” morning pages proved transformative for me for a time. Cameron doesn’t get enough credit for starting a movement.

That’s an eternity! At 40 weeks on the dot I shouldn’t complain then. My older daughter early and so I assumed #2 would arrive on time at least.

Morning ! I’ve slacked a bit on writing lately but the brain is still working overtime. Currently reading “The Great Believers” and it’s giving me new insight into structure and storytelling from multiple perspectives. Any fiction that you?

Wow, just wow: Cicero, a new Turkish movie about WWII has a screening and at its opening gala, a makeshift concentration camp is set up among the party goers. This just days after International Holocaust Remembrance Day. What the hell were they thinking? (photo via )

This is my worst fear, and I hate being the mom with the stroller who's blocking the flow of traffic so I rush. Not anymore.
