You mean the arrest of the suspect in the stabbing, right? Correct. Remember the outrage after the very 1st arrest? We made it clear there better not be another 'Central Pk 5.' They dotted their i's on this one. We're tired of police & prosecutorial misconduct too.

Excellent point. Maintaining is harder for them bc many also have undiagnosed, untreated mental health disorders. They're being preyed upon in prison. AND they cannot speak out about the abuse in prison for fear of retaliation. It's absurd!

Appeals courts do NOT retry cases. An appeal from a lower court has to be based on a legal defect (constitutional/legal violation by judge / prosecutors case) in the original proceeding. Appeals court do not call witnesses since their role is solely based on the alleged defect.

point as well. We can't coddle criminals of any age & we cannot simply banish them either. Some youth can actually be rehabilitated. Depends on the damage though. Let's hear everything. Then debate if. & how. I definitely get you too though.

or guardians are the problem. The kid is the symptom & oftentimes, later, a victim and/or a suspect. So many tentacles. Society norms have changed. Not all for good. That ushered in a generation unused to accountability. Work ethic declined. This is the end result. I get your

Absolutely! Every word you wrote is true. Prison reform is long overdue. I think the other underlying point was sometimes, some teen perps aren't total victims of the system. Some parents truly do all they can but kid goes awry. Sometimes it's a case of some of the parents (1)
