1) It's official: research that found infectious SARS-CoV-2 in air samples has been peer-reviewed: "significant environmental contamination in rooms where patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 are housed and cared for, regardless of the degree of symptoms"

2) Window ledges not used by patient also contaminated, likely carried by airflow. Hallway air samples turned up viral aerosols, likely carried by those exiting room. Personal air samplers all positive, despite absence of cough by most patients while sampling took place...

3) Study suggests SARS-CoV-2 environmental contamination around COVID-19 patients is extensive, and hospital procedures should account for the risk of fomite, and potentially airborne, transmission of the virus.

So, are you saying it is airborne?

Correct. Traditional view is the virus hitches a ride on large respiratory droplets that fall to ground quickly, hence the 6ft separation guidance. But we breathe out tiny particles too, that float and travel further. This study found they also contain virus that infects cells.

It means that in addition to droplets that fall to the floor more quickly viral particles become aerosolized which are smaller and remain in the air for much longer. They will also travel through hvac systems so special filters might be in order.
