I've just spoken to Huda and she and Richard have been released. They did not hand over passwords and are facing outrageous persecution by the British police state as a result. I'll have a report on this soon.

Ajit Singh has done the best work unpicking the propaganda claims about Xinjiang that if you decline to mindlessly and unquestioningly repeat will get you immediately labeled a “genocide denier”

And today often baseless or highly exaggerated claims about Xinjiang are advanced not from any actual solidarity or knowledge but as a cheap way to appear “pro-Muslim” at the expense not of the Muslim-mass-murdering US empire, but of its newest and biggest target China.

So in Darfur context, claim was “look at those Arabs doing a genocide against Black Africans!” US Zionist groups saw this is a great way to try to co-opt African American activists and stoke general anti-Arab sentiment as well. The Zionist activism had nothing to do with Darfur.

Zionists are always happy to pretend to rally in support of Muslims and/or Africans as long as those allegedly persecuting them are *not* Israel or *are* officially designated enemies of the US empire.

Claims about Xinjiang now serve the same role in Zionist and US imperialist propaganda and deflection as claims about Darfur did in the early 2000s. Some resources/context:
