Oh wow Vampironica reps the best of what Horror has to offer. I loved every single page. Such a good balance of classic Archie Teenangst and those good horror beats. Bravo, Greg & Meg Smallwood and !!

Meeting people who like what you do is essential to improving your craft. Pitching in and helping to run magazines, events, edit, do writing groups, bookstore stuff - it’s all essential to making friends and thus, connections, people who remember you next time they need a piece.

Writing is a solitary activity, yes, and I think a lot of new writers confuse that with a solitary career. But a literary career is anything but solitary! You need recommendations, blurbs, feedback, opportunities, and friends to give you honest feedback or just encourage you.

Decided to break out of my reclusive shell this weekend. During 3 social events in 24 hours, I ended up in conversations with 4 racists, 3 misogynists, 2 anti-Semites, and a homophobic (in a pear tree?). Yup, I’ma stick to FICTIONAL people.
