Few things that didn't make it into the final piece: * "Russian hacking/trolling" seemed too amateurish and haphazard to make any meaningful impact * Trump is Americans' own creation, pretending otherwise is desperate self-deceit (same goes for Brexit)

Let me introduce some nuance to this thread by saying that TV pundits and anonymous web commentators are a microscopic minority while everyone I met in person on my US trip last year was nothing but nice, open-minded and welcoming. Especially in Minnesota, which I miss a lot.
