The City is investigating options, incl. maintaining current layout (4 lanes) and reducing lanes from Howard to Quaker and using for other travel modes. We encourage community members to give feedback at the March 25 meeting--we've also passed along your comment to program staff.

Check out the City’s resource recovery stations at last week's Summit! We were intentional about food served: no plastic straws/utensils, no individually-packaged items, and food waste was composted! Thanks to all who attended & helped us reduce our waste footprint!

Final road resurfacing & pedestrian access ramp improvements (not associated with the Pedestrian Improvements to Transit Stops project) will be scheduled once all other capital, utility & maintenance repairs are complete. Current estimates target no later than summer 2020.

Utility work: required by several private developments has resulted in additional impacts to Mount Vernon Avenue. The remaining utility repairs (including those at 1800 Mount Vernon Avenue) are anticipated to be complete by early summer...

...Patching will begin as soon as April & be coordinated (to the extent possible) with planned capital project & utility repairs. In the meantime, City crews will respond to and repair potholes as reported into the .Connect system:

Pedestrian/Bus Stop Improvements: Beginning this spring, the City plans to improve pedestrian safety and consolidate/improve bus stops on Mount Vernon Avenue. Once construction begins, it should be completed within six to nine months.

The City aims to coordinate our capital improvement projects with already occurring private projects when possible. There are several projects happening along Mt. Vernon Ave. and we will use this thread to update you on City efforts.

We know the changes with recycling are frustrating. The City is actively working to respond to these changes via the new plan. You can read about the plan here: We'll also be starting an education campaign later this year.
