Yes, there used to be... I still remember my number.... but it hasn't existed for many years... and even when it did you couldn't prove it, there was no ID card.

These things help build a culture of awareness and inclusion. They make people realise that disabled people are everywhere, not just wheels, dogs and white sticks!

TfLs Please Offer Me A Seat badge had similar reservations... and success. It seems to me 'registration' makes the life of authorities easier and people sign up to avoid the battles. Seems a very 1970's, nanny state approach. But I may be biased :)

I don't think the thought was "How do I exclude wheelchair users?" but to flagrantly breach building regs is shockingly unprofessional... and common.

The deliberately unequal treatment, through prejudice, either consciously or unconsciously, is something that we share. Access to employment or services is common, even normalised. And yes I can show you examples where physical features eg steps, have been added to buildings.

I'm unclear on the details for registering as blind, though I know it's voluntary. I'd be interested to know of the take up today.

The "additional right" that triggered this comment was getting ramp assistance onto a train because trains aren't built inclusively. This is about fair and equal treatment, something my Jewish and LGBT+ friends continue to fight for.

So one trip per bike per day approximately. That's not a great business model. Interesting the complaint levels too. People, I suspect, just couldn't be bothered/didn't know where to complain.

There is no register of Jews or LGBT+, that would be offensive and wrong, but so many people demand "Are you registered disabled?" Why do people think this is acceptable?

Few lifts are self reporting. This feed is mostly built from humans reporting. does gather it all in one place though.
