Working w/Hugh Downs for 12 yrs was an honor & privilege. As our Board Chair he hosted meetings at his Phoenix home & supported us for over 4 decades. Soaring w/him over Paradise Valley was indeed paradise. Godspeed to one of the most generous & kind people I’ve ever known.

Just finished our payload calibration review with the very good outcome that our payload performance is stable and very few updates to data calibration pipelines are needed!

A funny day... Many emails abt meetings for final decisions abt this or that engineering detail (where "detail" is something we cannot move past til final decision made). Plus a weird bit of PI-ness...checking bona fides on ppl asking unusual Qs.

Tomorrow the instrument payload teams will present a three-hour long results summary of their recent calibration campaigns and we'll decide if and how to modify our data reduction pipelines for those latest results.

Pluto is a planet & even kids know that. “Science” didn’t change things here. 4% of the IAU did & the world’s leading planetary scientists reject their decision.
