Yep as Jonathan said, a proposal to allow a LT 'pilot' of all taxis was recommended by DfI but couldn't proceed without a minister, which we now have. Current policy of council is to support the inclusion of all taxis which is what I'm trying to change.

What I wouldn't give for a sustainable transport plan for Belfast (& NI) right now! We keep pushing!

Oh absolutely! I was v.clear on this, it's not perfect & need massive improvement in cycling infrastructure, public transport etc. We need to protect the little we already have & focus all energy & resources on improving system!

This popped up on my FB today, from 1 year ago. Car use is growing 2.5% per year in Belfast, it's unsustainable, endless gridlock and worsening air quality. Political leadership is needed, we have to redesign our streets and our mentalities. More of the same won't work.

From council officers. We, along with SDLP, Alliance & PBP didn't feel it was necessary for the wording of the motion & what it was asking for. Also question over how officers can provide the info asked for but that was what was agreed..🤷

SF & DUP have voted to defer it until a report comes back on the impact of taxis in bus lanes. Will update next month as this progresses (2/2)

UPDATE: My motion on private-hire taxis in bus lanes was heard tonight at ctte. We need to prioritise sustainable transport in this city, rather than our obsession with the private car, if we're serious about tackling climate change & addressing our air quality crisis (1/2)

9 months into this council malarkey, some days I think I'm flying, other days drowning, while most I'm bobbing along learning. Then I got this in the post from a resident thanking me for fighting for a local issue. Simple acts of kindness transform the world.

We're starting to hear hopeful things in on distribution of Burton and Currie's 4436 votes - Coppinger not doing as well as hoped and we think we have closed the 721 vote gap This could be the last count
